What to do in Manaus
Manaus is the gateway to the Amazon. Don't miss the Meeting of the Waters, where the Negro and Solimões rivers run side by side without mixing (about 20 minutes from Ceasa), plus boat trips, guided trails and eco-tours; in the dry season, enjoy the river beaches such as Ponta Negra. About 107 km away, Presidente Figueiredo delights with its waterfalls.
For regional flavors, try tacacá, pirarucu, tambaqui and jaraqui at spots like O Lenhador (Ponta Negra, 92 3239-0006), Caxiri (Centro, 92 98405-4769), Pirakaia (92 99182-8015), Sagrado Peixe (Coroado, 92 3019-4939) and Biatüwi – Indigenous Food House (Centro, 92 98832-8408).
The region is also known for sport fishing and visits to indigenous communities, with bilingual guides via ED Transporte e Turismo (92 99380-6225). Nightlife centers on Vieiralves, Centro, Adrianópolis, Eldorado and Ponta Negra. The front desk can help plan itineraries and book tours.
